Musical Pit Orchestra
ELCO High School Band students provide the instrumental music for the high school spring musical in conjunction with professional musicians. Approximately fifteen student musicians volunteer their time devoting many hours of practicing difficult pieces, and then rehearsing
them at length with the cast of the musical. The pit orchestra rehearses after school starting
in January and continuing through March until the public performances. Selection to the pit orchestra is by audition and recommendation. Prospective pit orchestra musicians
should be proficient on their instrument, and be flexible enough with personal schedules to devote time to many rehearsals and performances.
Past productions include: South Pacific, Crazy for You, Forty-Second Street, Bye Bye Birdie, Children of Eden, Babes in Arms, My Fair Lady, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Mame, Wizard of OZ, Rags, and Meet Me in St. Louis.
